About
When I first began my artistic journey, I would be lying if I said I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Even now iām in a limbo between digital and traditional art, so why not merge the two.
My journey as an artist began when I was a young girl. I was never the best student in class but I still tried to do the best I could. I often drew in my notebooks to help relieve stress or anxieties I was feeling at the time. I would get in trouble for not paying attention in class because of this but making these small doodles in my notebook actually helped me pay attention to what my teachers were saying. I doodled and drew a lot at home as well since I found comfort in seeing how my drawings progressed. In a way, I made art in order to get through life.
My love for drawing transitioned into painting with acrylics and watercolor. I painted many portraits of people and animals since I thought the anatomical structures of humans and animals were interesting to study. Through my interests, I was able to paint commissions of family members and pets for clients along with creating simple cartoon art for myself. Although I enjoy painting people, my work catered more towards animals since I admire their appearance and biological way of living. Not long after painting I discovered digital illustration and the rest was history. To think that traditional art on paper or canvas has transitioned into working with software and programs to create the art on screens baffles me. When I was a crew member in high school theater, I was introduced to the process behind the scenes of making theatrical art. I created sets with my crew and was assigned to control the soundboard for the play. Here I encountered working with another form of art and technology which I had never thought about before. It opened my eyes to more possibilities between the realms of traditional and digital art. I have been inspired by several forms of digital media whether it was through animated movies, cartoons, video games, sound design and much more. I have not worked with digital media that long but I know it is something I am passionate about learning and pursuing further.
Through my art I would like to showcase my skills and evolution as an artist. I would like to create traditional and digital media art while finding new ways to combine them together. I enjoy making digital illustrations and working with electronics. Since I am still in a place of discovery, I like for my art to have a certain amount of ambiguity so that the viewer is free to interpret the narrative of my work in their own way.
